Assignment 11 & 12 October 2012
2 Student Presentations - Volunteers or next two by grade average.
Return density lab reports& finish them & discuss results, note:
* does everyone have the same density for each sample? why?
* how reliable is density as an identifier of substances? why?
* how could we improve the results of this experiment? why?
* what more do you want to learn of fossils/dinosaurs/geological time this quarter? 5WH?

Assignment 1 - 8 October 2012
All previous assignments are due.
Each class meeting at least two student's presentations must be given each day for us all to have an opportunity before the end of the quarter. If no one volunteers to present theirs, then the next two by highest grade average will be called on to present whatever they have ready. If a student wants to improve his or her presentation grade, then they may turn in a written report to be graded using the presentation rubric by no later than 30 October 2012.
Your Research Journal will be checked on 9 or 10 October. At least three source citations and more than a page of information toward the fossil report should be journalized by now. If you are capturing your sources directly into a PowerPoint or Word Processor document, then your partially completed PowerPoint or report serves as your journal to date. Be sure to have the latest version with you (on H:drive or thumb-drive) for evaluation by the teacher.

Prepare for your 8Sb report. While the absolute final submission of your 8Sa and 8Sb projects is the end of the quarter (30 October 2012), you may earn bonus percentage points on the project grade by doing them ahead of time. Any reports made (or shown to be ready if there are too many to present on one day) on 20th or 21st September will receive 10% added to the rubric score up to 100%. Show the teacher all 40 written definitions or find and write out 10 more by the end of class. The number done by the end of class will be in the gradebook immediately after class, based on 40.
If you have all 40 definitions, then write answers to at least two of the essential questions using as many of the words as possible correctly in at least a five sentence paragraph. This should be done for all 7 essential questions in preparation for a written quiz on the questions next week.
